My branch of Mc Kee's orgin is the Mc Kee's of Pennsylvania, Rockbridge county Virginia; Mercer County Kentucky; Owen, Greene, Knox, Monroe and Marion Counties Indiana.
Joseph Howe Mckee came from Kentucky and settled in Owen county Indiana. My great-great grandfather Robert Thomas Mckee followed a cousin to Greene County, Indiana in 1870. His brothers were with the railroad and lived in various places during their lives mainly Knox, Monroe and Marion Counties Indiana; walong with Bollinger county Missouri and Whit county Arkansas.
My father sometime after his marriage in 1948 left Greene county first going to Bloomington, Monroe, Indiana; then to outside of Indianapolis between Danville Indiana on High School road to work on a farm - the to Culver, Marshall, Indiana where he first worked for the Newman Farm, then the Dillon farm and in 1962 managaed the service station on Lakreshore Dr. first known as the Lakeshore Garage - and while he was manage became the Enco Service Station. He moved to Brandenton, Manatee, Flordia in 1974 where he died in 1984.
Dad was a wonderful supporter in my quest for the McKee family history - he always insisted his Uncle Joe had a family but all that could ever be found was a marriage date - no spouse - not place - and nothing on his family ever surfaced till 1998 when I lost the entire McKee Manuscript and had to start gathering all my information - back - I found a strat of his family as far as the census back then allowed me to do - now I need to work more on it again since the 1920 and 1930 census has opened up.
