East Shore Lane a Listing of CottagesThe label as "non lakefront" is not meant to offend anyone - nor is it meant to be taken that it does not to have lake access it could very well have, I have not deleved into that aspect - the only meaning intended is that the house/cottage and or property is NOT located on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee or the lake side of the road - or thus directly connected to the Lake Maxinkuckee it means only that there is a road and/or alley between it and the lake. In 1928, the East Shore neighborhood Association Inc. was formed. This is the area known as the "Private Drive". Its main purpose was to maintain and keep that area - private. There is a wooded area called "Rice Woods" to the east that was turned over to the association, it runs from the start of the private drive down to the old Norris Property at the curve - or the area known as "Woodbank" on the south on the lake front. These properties are within the Rice Woods - It is approximately seven acres at the intersection of East Shore Lane and State Road 117. Maple Trees, planted by the East Shore Lane Association in the 1930s, line the east side of East Shore Lane. The remainder was allowed to grow naturally and has a variety vegetation and reamins thus today. And the south section was area was a part of the Edwards Farm; the north section area was a part of the Van Schoiack Farm.
